The CMC strongly believes in the Great Commission: spreading the messge of Christ and baptizing and discipling those choose tofollow Christ. While much of the Lord's work is done through missionaries, the conference is also active in starting new churches where the Lord leads. Currently, the CMC is involved in the following church plants.
Recently, our Conference has received a call to consider a church plant in Two Hills AB, through a contact made from a service they heard at the Blue Berry Bible Camp Music Festival last year. Our Missions Executive Secretary, Pastor Cornie Martens, and Bishop Frank Unrau went to the area to see if we could help the people there. They felt there was a need and opportunity to help them by planting a church in the community. The Ministerial body and the Mission Board with both support the further exploration of the possibily planting a church.
Are you a retired senior looking for a rewarding experience? Would you like to serve the Lord by visiting needy people in the Two Hills area? If you have access to a recreational vehicle and would like to spend a month or more doing this kind of mission work call the CMC office at (204) 346-6320 or Cornie Martens, the CMC Missions Executive Secretary, at (204) 331-1282 or (204) 377-4979 for further information.
A number of years ago, two prayer cells were formed, one in Winkler and one in Steinbach, with the express purpose of praying for a new CMC church plant. It now appears that their persistant prayers efforts are going to be rewarded. The CMC Board of Missions started a church plant in Winkler, Manitoba, known as the Christian Faith Church. Services began in August at the J.R. Walkof School, but the church plant grew beyond expectations and moved to a larger building at 324 South Railway Avenue. This allowed the church to conduct ministries such as Sunday School.
The CFC is now in the process of attaining full church status with the CMC, thus no longer under the guidance of the Conference Board of Missions. It will be adopting a consitutution, formally installing its ministerial, and accepting its first members. This is an exciting time for the Winkler congregation. Please pray for Pastor Cornie and Mary Martens and Deacon Cornie and Margaret Penner as they lead the church and that God will continue to give clear direction.

This church plant was started in 2001, a joint venture of the CMC, the Evangelical Mennonite Conference, and the Evangelical Mennonite Mission Conference. Led by Andrew and Amie Reimer, this church plant is located in the north end of Winnipeg. Please pray for Andrew and Amie as they continue to lead this church plant.
